Nate began taking photos seriously in his early 20’s. He gained most of his knowledge through self- education by studying skate and snowboard photography in all the mags, as well as gaining education and inspiration from his now wife, Bree. She studied fine art photography at the University of Utah, and shared much of her knowledge with Nate.

After years of trial and error, and wasted slide film shooting his friends skating and snowboarding, he began to find a groove, and began freelancing for local, and international magazines, as well as action sports companies. Nate has worked as a freelance photographer for many years, and has been published in multiple publications worldwide, including Snowboarder Mag, Australian Snowboarder, Manual Magazine, New Zealand Snowboard and Freeskier magazine, including their Photo Annual. He also worked locally in Salt Lake City for SLUG mag for a few years as the action sports photographer and writer. Other companies that he has worked with include Allian Snowboards, Mission Six Outerwear, and King of Kings (Reliance) Skateboards.
